"Academics, community and individualized attention are just some of the reasons we chose to transfer both of our children to L.C. Schmitt Elementary. First, the teachers and staff are talented, compassionate and care about students and their families. Our family feels valued when we walk onto campus and everyone is smiling and welcoming.  In every grade, the teachers have been able to provide challenging and engaging work in a loving, but firm, environment. Most importantly, we LOVE having our children go to school with the same kids that live in our neighborhood. The sense of community is apparent, and this contributes greatly to our children learning far more than the Indiana state academic standards. The community at Schmitt teaches them individual responsibility for their role in the success of the school, and to be curious, hardworking citizens who help those around them."

I love being a part of Schmitt Elementary because I am a firm believer in our mission statement and our goal of always doing better to take care of the children in our care and providing them with a safe place to learn and develop their young minds for the future. I have been a part of the Schmitt family for 18 years, and I love seeing how much we accomplish as a staff each school year, and I especially love watching the little ones develop and move up through the next grade levels. It is very rewarding and satisfying work for me, and I truly love what I do.
